Tonight's meeting was our Ron Sloan Endeavour Scholarships Awards night.

What a fantastic night we had last night
as host of
the semi finals of Rotary District 9455's
Four Way Test Speaking Competition.
We heard from six wonderful young speakers -
all supported by their sponsoring
club and a team of supporters.
Thanks to DG Hank de Smit, PDG Fred Marsh,
our
Rostrum adjudicators
and our own RCK team for making the night a great success.
Recently club members Peter Polain,
Peter Durrant and Robyn Cleaver
had the pleasure of meeting John Crowe,
President of Gallipoli and Dardanelles International.

Swimmer numbers were
up more than 60%,
seven clubs took part and swims took place at 4 different

Our special meeting this morning was made extra

with a visit from Rotarian PP Anthony Katongo
from the Rotary Club of
Ndola Mukuba in Zambia
and his son Mutale who has just graduated
from Curtin
Uni in Actuartial Science.
Anthony told us about his long association
with the
Rotary Family and the projects
to improve the health of the people

spoke about the Geraldton University, Hollumby Foundation
and Scholarship.

gave us a brief overview of what yearly scholarships
are active now and in the
future,
stating that there are currently 11 individual scholarships
amongst 200
students.
Michael
Patrick was our clubs RYLA entrant
and spoke about his 5 day experience in
January 2014
at the Bickly Hills Camp School.

Ski lift fail
A local drug rehab center had fallen
into disrepair
and the grounds were in shambles.
The newly hired director
assumed the task of upgrading the facility.
The improvements became the pride
of the downtown section
of the city with newly planted bushes and a lush, thick
lawn,
and accent art scattered everywhere.
The director of the center was known
for his humorous approach
to even the most traumatic of circumstance
.
Considering the service he was providing to the community,
his constant, upbeat
personality was the envy
of all who came to know him.
He was also into landscaping with a
passion
and the new lawn and bushes and new,
young trees were a source of great
pride for him.
And so it was not a surprise when he
chose a motto
for the drug rehabilitation center that matched
his desires for
the preservation of the center's good appearance
Keep Off The Grass.
