Rotary Club of Subiaco

Tonight we had Bruce Duffy from The Rotary Club of Western Endeavour
 as our guest speaker.
Bruce talked about the Education Program designed
in association with the Rotary Aboriginal Reference Group,
 the education department, Curtin Uni.,
the sea and land council and several Rotary Clubs.

This program is being trialled in 4 schools in Perth
and is designed to provide understanding of the aboriginal culture
to students and a strengthened identity to aboriginal students.
We discovered that there were 250 different
aboriginal countries in Australia when Cook discovered Australia.
There were as many languages and even more dialects.
In WA there were over 130 of these independent countries.
There was much discussion as to the way the Noongar people
 in particular survived and flourished.
